Job Opportunity! Income Assistance Facilitator Trainee

PURPOSE

ONWAA is seeking interested individuals for an employment opportunity. This position requires an individual with some working knowledge of Income Assistance programs being delivered on First Nations. Additional training on Income Assistance Programs will be provided. They will assist with researching, planning and delivering of in-person and training programs to First Nations Administrators and support staff. A solid work ethic and the ability to travel is a must.

PARTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Highschool diploma.
• Post secondary education; preferably in social work, sociology, health sciences or adult education considered an asset.
• 1 year experience working in a First Nation community; OR 2 years experience working in Ontario Works or Social assistance office.
• Proficiency and knowledge of computer, software applications.
• Experience delivering training or public speaking to adults, including Webex and other technology platforms that support online training.

PARTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop training curriculum and various social assistance related training packages, through in-person and onsite support and virtual platform. 
• Deliver/facilitate training material(s) to First Nation social service staff and stakeholders. 
• Deliver employment and financial assistance on-site training to First Nation employees who are responsible for the delivery of social assistance. 
• Conduct on-going training needs assessment. 
• Research and interpret social assistance legislation, government policies and trends, and provide recommendations regarding social assistance delivery as they relate to Indigenous communities. 
• Maintain awareness of new social assistance regulations, delivery policies and best practices. Attend various meetings as directed by supervisor. 
• Contribute to ONWAA’s help desk. Maintain proper filing system.
• Prepare statistical reports and other reports as requested.  
• Communication and develop outreach processes when providing support to First Nations. 
• Provide mentorship approach to ensure sustainable program expertise, compliance and delivery. 

PARTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL

• Knowledgeable of Indigenous Culture and Communities.
• Knowledgeable in Ontario Works employment assistance and social programs delivered by First Nation Service Administrators; Ontario Works financial assistance, employment assistance, TSF, NCBS, Non-SARS Funeral and Burials, Homemaker and Home Support, etc. considered an asset.  
• Excellent communication, organizational and team building skills. Demonstrated experience transferring knowledge to various learners.
• Ability to facilitate group processes, and one on one sessions. 
• Good public relations, including the appreciation of the need for confidentiality, tact and discretion. 

SALARY: Dependent on qualifications.
LOCATION: Remote Work/Work from home office.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Independent work, subject to hard deadlines and frequent check-ins. Work may involve irregular and unexpected hours. Ability to travel is a must.
